Catering for a large group but not sure what dietary requirements to include?
In recent years it has become increasingly important to include a variety of dietary requirements when catering for groups of people. It is a vital piece of information that will help to ensure your event runs as smooth as possible and all attendees leave happy and not hungry. People request dietary specific food for the following reasons:
- Food allergies and intolerances - Celiac disease, Dairy intolerance
- Religious Beliefs - such as halal and kosher
- Diet philosophy - Vegan, Vegetarian, Pescatarian
- Health benefits - Keto, Paleo, Atkins
- Special dietary requirements - Pregnant, Fodmap
If you know exactly who is attending your event it is recommended that you gather information on their dietary requirements. The best etiquette for gathering dietary requirements is to either ask on invitation or send an email to all participants.
If you do not have the luxury of being able to find out your attendees' dietary requirements it is important to try and cover most bases. As a general rule of thumb try the following:
- Out of all dishes try to ensure 75% are meat and 25% are vegan (Vegan also ensures dairy free along with vegetarian and pescatarian)
- Of all the dishes try to make sure that roughly 30% are gluten-free / celiac (being gluten intolerant is not uncommon and it is also the preference for a large majority of people as it reduces bloating - which is perfect for an event!)
This can all be very overwhelming so we are here to assist. Let us do all the hard work by organising items, pricing and delivery. Click here to get a quote or get in touch with me by email.
